Key will not turn, or stuck in the ignition? Mobile Locksmith Miami repairs and replaces ignition lock cylinders on-site, so in most cases the vehicle does not have to be towed to a shop or dealership.

Common Ignition Problems We Fix
- Key will not turn, or only turns after jiggling
- Key is stuck and will not come out
- Key goes in only part of the way
- Ignition turns but feels loose or gritty
- Key broke off inside the ignition
- Ignition damaged after an attempted theft
Repair or Replace?
Many ignition faults come from worn wafers inside the lock cylinder or from a worn key, and can be fixed by servicing or rebuilding the cylinder. When the cylinder is too damaged to repair, we replace it and key the new one to match your existing key where the vehicle allows, so you are not left carrying one key for the doors and another for the ignition.
A worn key can damage a healthy ignition over time. If the key is the cause, we cut a fresh one to the original code instead of copying the worn one.
What to Do When the Key Will Not Turn
Before calling, check that the vehicle is in park and gently move the steering wheel left and right while turning the key, since a locked steering column is a common cause. Do not force the key. Forcing it is how most keys end up snapped inside the cylinder.
Ignition Lock vs. Electrical Faults
We work on the ignition lock cylinder and the key. If the key turns normally but the engine does not crank, the cause is usually electrical, such as the battery, starter or ignition switch wiring, and a mechanic is the right call. We will tell you if that is what we find.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an ignition be repaired without replacing it?
Often, yes. Worn wafers and minor damage can usually be repaired. Replacement is needed when the cylinder is badly worn or damaged.
Will I need new keys after an ignition replacement?
Usually not. On most vehicles the new cylinder can be keyed to your existing key.
Do I need to tow my car?
In most cases no. Ignition cylinder work is done where the vehicle is parked.
My key is stuck in the ignition. What should I do?
Make sure the car is in park, the battery is not flat, and the steering wheel is not locked. If it still will not release, stop and call, since pulling harder can break the key.
